Chester County Commissioners Visit Lundale Farm

Farm Tour 2018Commissioners Michelle Kichline, Terence Farrell, and Kathi Cozzone toured Lundale Farm in September to meet new and beginning farmers and discuss issues surrounding land access.

Lundale Farm is a sustainable farming community on 520 acres in the northern part of the county that leases land to farmers to start or grow their businesses. It is also the former home of agricultural land preservation pioneers Sam and Eleanor Morris. Jodi Gauker, Lundale’s executive director and Ag Council board member, welcomed our group to the farm and introduced us to some of the farmers who own and operate Pasture Song Farm and True Leaf Microgreens, two of the seven operations currently leasing land at Lundale.

After touring the property via hayride, we returned to one of the main barns to enjoy a locally-sourced lunch and spirited conversation about the trials and tribulations new and beginning farmers must overcome as they grow their farm businesses.
