Now operating as the Chester County Department of Facilities & Parks, the Department was originally established in 1958 as Parks & Recreation. We currently manage 21.8 miles of regional trails and over 4,600 acres of dedicated public parkland created to preserve natural, cultural and historical resources.
Chester County facilities are open daily, 8:00 AM to sunset. Every season offers a variety of programs and recreational opportunities. We strive to provide accessible locations to enjoy the outdoors and participate in activities.
From meandering creeks, fishing ponds, woodlands, and meadows to serpentine barrens and the Schuylkill silt basins, stunning natural beauty and watchable wildlife abound. Chester County Parks’ wide open spaces and rolling hills provide endless recreational activities and outdoor fun. From walking to kite flying to cross-country skiing, there’s something for everyone!
The mission of Chester County Parks is to provide conservation, management, maintenance, education and recreation services to residents, businesses and visitors so that they may experience open space and understand the natural, cultural, and historic resources of the County.
