Hibernia Mansion, as you see it today, reflects the changes of lifestyle and social status of its various owners for over 200 years. Long the home of Ironmasters, it expanded with their increased prosperity.

Weeding Wednesdays

Beginner and Expert gardeners needed! The Friends of Springton Manor gardening team meets at the butterfly garden regularly to weed and trim. Bring your garden gloves and favorite hand tools and join us as we weed and make new friends!

Paws On the Path

2nd Saturday of Every Month
Take a ranger-led hike with your dog! This is a great way to meet other dogs and their owners. Dogs must keep their humans on a leash. Please bring a clean up bag  and water - no water is available at Wolf's Hollow. Hikes will alternate each month between Nottingham and Wolf's Hollow Parks.

Beginner Nature Photography


For Ages 14+. Intended for novices looking to take better nature photos with their smart phones or cameras, this class will cover appreciating natural images; an introduction to image composition; improving your photography; simple image manipulation, and a short outdoor practice session. Technical jargon will not be covered, while artistic appreciation and expression will be emphasized. Be sure to bring your own camera or cell phone.

Invasion of the Rusty Crayfish


The French Creek has been overrun by the invasive “Rusty Crayfish”, moving upstream from the Schuylkill River. This crayfish is larger, more aggressive and can eat twice as much as native crayfish. Help catch crayfish, identify the native and non-native species, and protect our valued aquatic habitat.

Learn about the Eastern Coyote, a fascinating and controversial new addition to Pennsylvania’s wildlife. After an interactive presentation, take a hike to learn how to track coyote and identify their habitat.

Family Fishing at Springton - Full


For Ages 6+.  Fishing is a great way to connect with your family! Learn knot tying, casting, baiting and unhooking a fish. All equipment provided and no fishing license is required. BYOB - bring your own bait! The catch? Adults must bring a child and children must bring an adult so you can fish together!

Intermediate Nature Photography


For Ages 14+.  Want to take better nature photos with your advanced compact or interchangeable-lens camera? This more technical class, intended for photographers looking to move beyond the “A”, will cover choosing an aperture, shutter speed, film/sensor sensitivity, scene brightness, exposure compensation, lens perspective, and depth of field. Your camera should be able to control F-stop, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity (film cameras welcome). For your interchangeable lens camera or SLR, bring a zoom lens (it’s best if this is a wide angle to telephoto zoom), or several single focal length lenses.

Children's Safety Hike


For Ages 6 & Under.  Parents - have a park ranger reinforce the safety lessons you teach your children. On this interactive hike, we will cover “stranger danger”, “what to do when lost”, “who to trust” and other safety topics. Participants will receive a safety certificate and souvenir.

Junior Ranger Day at Hibernia


For Ages 5 - 11.  Spend the afternoon with Chester County park rangers on a guided hike through Hibernia. See the vehicles and equipment they use. Learn outdoor safety tips and receive a certificate upon completion. Parental supervision required.

Nottingham Star Party


The Chester County Astronomical Society hosts this early autumn Star Party. As the light wanes, hear a short talk on the “What” and “Why” of seasonal changes to the night sky. Once dark, all eyes gaze to the heavens for a guided tour of planets, constellations, and other visible features, with spectacular views available through high-powered telescopes. Wear sturdy footwear for standing, and bring your own binoculars or telescope if desired. If weather is cloudy, please call (610) 932-2589 to confirm program.

Dowlin Forge: A Hidden Industrial Saga

Join Chester County historian and author Susannah Brody to learn about the Dowlin Forge purchased in 1801. Listen to stories about the early iron industry and how the local area grew from this enterprise.

Spring Plant Swap


Bring a “green-thumbed” friend and trowel to this free community event and join other gardeners in exchanging plants, seeds, tools, stories and tips. A great way to try new plants. Plenty of books, photos and experience will be on hand. Even if you have nothing to share, come get ideas. Selling is not permitted, but private nurseries are otherwise welcome.
